Configuring Capable 21C to support Multiple Tyro Terminals

Abstract

Capable 21C supports the Tyro system for EFT. This article describes how to configure Capable 21C to correctly support multiple terminals.

Underlying challenge

A Tyro terminal is an external device that is connected to Australia's banking network. Using a Tyro terminal independently of Capable 21C is quite easy, and Tyro provide instruction on how to do that. Using a Tyro terminal with Capable 21C is also easy. Many offices only have a single Tyro terminal. If you have multiple terminals, this article describes how to configure Capable 21C.

Resolution

Before configuring these features, it is important to enable Tyro functionality

Each workstation in your office can be configured to use a different Tyro Terminal. Doing so involves using a Windows tool called 'the Registry Editor'. Editing the Windows Registry is dangerous and can cause your system to become non-responsive and/or unusable. If you are not familiar with the registry editor, or feel uncomfortable with the risks of using it, refer this knowledgebase article to your local PC technician.

To configure Capable 21C for multiple terminals (TIDs), the following steps must be performed:

  • Hold the Windows key and press 'R'. This opens the Windows Run prompt.
  • Type REGEDIT and press ENTER. The Windows Registry Editor appears.
  • Navigate to the following registry key: "HKCU\Software\VB and VBA Program Settings\Capable" and click on it to highlight it.
  • Right click on the right hand pane and choose the option to add a new key.
  • Name it Tyro.
  • Click on the new Tyro key (on the left hand side) to select it.
  • Right click on the right hand pane and choose the option to add a new 'String Value'.
  • Name it TID Override.
  • Double click on the new value to assign a value to it.
  • Set the value to be the terminal ID (TID) for the terminal that should be associated with this workstation.
  • Close the Registry Editor.
  • Repeat these steps for each workstation.

Detailed Information

If a workstation has no 'TID Override', it will using the terminal that was specified when Capable 21C was originally configured for Tyro.
